We are a precision machine shop dealing with a variety of metals. All of our parts must be absolutely clean. We presently have an ultrasonic washer but have struggled with finding the best cleaning soap to use with the equipment. Can you give me some guidance?

We use clear Simple Green. Seems to work well and is not too harmful even to mag. Easy to dispose of also.

We use a line of products from Alconox (www.alconox.com). Check out their website, they offer samples and a really good book about critical cleaning. The powder version is Alconox and the liquid is Liquinox. We use Citrinox for mild etching and brightening. All rinse great and are low in suds. They are available at McMaster and other lab supply companies. Our shop is in a university and this is used in all the labs and at the hospitals.

When we need something absolutely clean, we always use detergent, followed by acetone, followed by methanol or ethanol. It cleans everything.

We have been using L&R Ammoniated Ultrasonic Cleaning Solutions.
They stink pretty bad when fresh, but man do they ever leave your stuff clean. Never had a problem.

I use Simple Green Aircraft Cleaner. It leaves no residue and does not etch soft materials. A neutral PH works for all metals.
