I recently read a comment where someone said 'the only reason to have a patent' is if you can afford to defend it. Most of my (and my customers) blueprints and CAD files have extensive notes claiming exclusive rights to the drawings and technical information. However, I'm wondering if the average shop can afford to protect it's intellectual property in the international marketplace anymore, and if so, what is the cost?
