Hey is anyone out there excited about the upcoming Terminator Salvation movie?

What about the entire concept of the Terminator franchise; is it relevant to machinists? The whole concept of the series is that robots have taken over the world and are building cybernetic organisms that basically place the power of a Panzer tank in a human body. I imagine this would take something along the lines of an MD+PRO II Wire EDM to build all the complex rotational joints of the human body.

While I AM cautiously optimistic about T:S, I am even more hesitant about the machines ability to stop armor piercing rounds. I mean come on..it's not Adamantium!!!! Even if the Terminators armor has the munitions displacement of TYPE IV classification, a well placed .50 caliber will easily shatter any and all "complex rotational joints" that a machinist could develop considering that any type of hyper alloy, while resistant, is ultimately brittle in it's current state.

I'm excited that Linda Hamilton has been confirmed to reprise her role as Sarah Connor in voice-overs that opens and closes the movie; they are from tapes Sarah recorded before her death prior to the film's events to warn John of the future war.

You raise an interesting point lukesseveredhar; a Terminator's joints would theoretically be more vulnerable than its chest or even its head. The resistance fighters should aim for the knees and elbows. Perhaps the new movie will see this type of combat technique.
