Does anybody still do the paid summer shutdown week?

I get (1) day paid. [July 3] But I never had a week off. Some of my buddies here in Detroit have (2) weeks off at GM. I'm pretty sure they're getting paid.

We give three weeks paid vacation after ten years. Is this common in the industry?

In past years, we would typically shut down for the Christmas week, but never during the summer. Unfortunately, due to the slow economy, we have had three different shut-down weeks this summer (one each in April, May, and July).
A number of our customers and suppliers have had similar shut-downs.
We get paid if we have any vacation left.

We had 1 week off in april and 1 in july. nothing paid.
