The Resale Show is coming up April22-24 in Karlsruhe Germany. Used machinery dealers and users from around the world show up to network and trade war stories. It will be interesting to see if crowds continue to come with lousy economic times when the need to market is so vital. Typical of insular, complacent Americans who think the world
revolves around Akron or Tampa the show has lots of Africans and Indians and Peruvians and Finns who come every year.

We like to go to meet people in one place. It beats schlepping to Kuala Lumpur on spec.

Are people to shell shocked to travel these days? Or is it like that old United Airlines commercial where sales folks cinch it up and head for the road to shake up some business?

I'm generally seeing travel budgets cut to the bone. Some b-to-b magazines are not even sending their editors to their own conferences!

I am not going because they raised the booth prices and business is so weak. I have had a booth for years but they chose the wrong year to get more expensive.

I just saw the ad on a conference in Cleveland about aerospace and medical work sponsored by a bunch of machine tool companies and IMTS and AMT. Looks interesting but pricey. They did a terrible job of publicizing the event. Also I see where the President of AMT resigned or was probably pushed out. Anybody know the inside dope about the politics?

I'd be interested to know what went on there as well. The press release made it seem like Simpson couldn't adequately respond to the "global economic crisis," or at least that they want leadership that can contend with that challenge, indirectly implying that Simpson wasn't doing that? Difficult to tell.
