How many shops use EIA programs instead conversasional? I have met many dealers ,salespersons that try to steer away from off line programing and want you to use their software. Also was cost extra for EIA/ISO conversions to be installed in machines and the cost of their software is higher than what you are now using?

We had in the past programmed with conversational and have switched over to all EIA. With conversational no matter how much we tried to inform the operators on speeds, feeds & methods they would be all over the map & no where near what the manufactors recommend. So then you spend a certain amount of time getting the job to run and make rate. Programming off line and not having the machine down rating while an operator did the programing is way more effecent for us.

I use both. I am used to conversational, but I am learning to use Gibbscam, which uses EIA. I do all of my own programming and make my own parts, so it is up to me which one I use.

We use EIA - being able to understand the code and generate unique solutions rather than using canned routines is very efficient.

I guess it really comes down to what you want your operator's doing in my opinion, making chips$$ or programs.
