I want this forum to keep growing rapidly. What features would you suggest to make it better and more useful?

One of the additions may be to make specific sections as on the practical machinist forum. There may be sections on buy and sell requirements including used machinery.

How about different machine types , Single spindle , multi, even milling VMC ? A general section, off topic for the "I just had to ask"?
Maybe even looking for parts for???
Just my 2 cents

I think a buy and sell area is a great idea for Shop Doc Forum. I think it could be very useful for machinery, tooling, spare parts and services. I am looking for used Hydromat units, used Winter thread rolling attachments as well as Reeds and Hydromat Trunnion type machines. An 8 32 Euroturn is also on my horizon.

I'm looking at buying a new Citzen A20--Good $ and 2 year warranty-- We have been looking for a long time for used 3m7 with crosswork capibilty--Seen many but to hig in $ and not sure of it being worn and in need of parts.
trying to start up a new shop in Pa. A machinery for sale area would be helpful.

A general section, off topic for the "I just had to ask"-type of conversations is a terrific idea, TRRINO. We want these forums to be a place people come to discuss all aspects of machining but also topics that are of interest; to make this a great place for talking shop, looking for equipment, getting advice on machining processes and just networking in general.

Military/Defense work is a growing area, but if you've ever tried to procure a government contract, you know how convoluted and totally weird it can be. Frustrating is putting it mildly. So I would like to communicate with others who are navigating this area (don't worry, no trade secrets need be revealed!)

Good idea lisyversonbarr. I've started a seperate thread inviting forum members to comment on military and defense contracting work.

It might be a good idea to advertise with Google or something like that. I also see a lot of advertisements on NY Times and CNN.com that could bring a lot of exposure. Speaking of NY, how about a billboard in Times Square! ;-)

Not sure we can afford an ad in Times Square Masters! Seriously though, traffic from members like you is going to help us see more and more hits on Google.

I like the clean, fast loading format. Please don't change that. I think if we could post small images or imbed youtube video that would be great.

Good idea, broach well. The problem is allowing for that means all sorts of inappropriate content shows up, and keeping that off becomes a big distraction. But it's something to consider.

Lloyd,
this wesite is great!
The following items are a must!!!
1-DO not align youself with Google or some other advertiser,
the next thing will be pop-ups all over the place. Keep it
simple2-You need an "Ignore list" such as Yahoo uses, the last thing I want to read is an advertisement for " Air motors & spary guns" in the middle of every discussion board. Maybe having a for sale listing would elimnate this.

The offending spammer has been blocked and his posts deleted. This is the first spammer we've had in a couple months of operation, which is a pretty good track record.

I think the administrator must be taking the day off. This problem will be remedied shortly. I do think a for sale and wanted section is a good idea.

I like this Forum especially on the days when you promote it with an email. Who won the Gerstner tool chest?
