We are going to be machining more and more castings and we cant afford to mess any of them up. Is there a firm that does this? I want to know what the associated costs would be and how technically challenging it is. We do a lot of our own repair so we might be capable of doing it in-house. Any thoughts?

Its a fanuc 15M on a Kitamura H400. Its a little older, but it still makes quite good parts. The endmills last about four times longer than our linear way Mori as well.

  2. Is this a tool setter probe or surface sensor probe? Is it a Renishaw model? Do you currently have the probe in house already? Do you have documentation for the probe as well as for the machine itself? Let's start there. I think we (Machine Tool Diagnostics, Inc) can help you.

If you don't already have probing then most likely you don't have the variable option which is necessary for probing to work.

If you can input this line in mdi and it accepts it you have varialbles

    #100=1
press cycle start and it will do nothing but input the value of 1 in Variable # 100
if it alarms you don't have the variable option.
