I agree finding boots or shoes with some small holes in them would be ideal, that's always a problem for me.

I've used Redwings and Georgia boots. I don't ever have nails and other sharp objects poking up from the floor that could perforate a sole so I don't bother with steel or kevlar shanks. The shanks make the shoes too stiff and uncomfortable to walk on a concrete floor. Better for outdoor jobs working in grass and dirt.

One thing I wish they would do with steel toe boots is ventilate the steel with some small holes. Makes for healthier feet.

SAS shoes are very comfortable and made in the USA. Check them out at a local store to get properly fitted by their staff.

I had a pair of Redwings with Kevlar soles for the steel mill. They fell apart in a month. The Redwing store said they would have to send them to the plant to be repaired & it would take two weeks.

Yes, this year they were almost the best! :) I guess I'll hit the Red Wing store, there's one on my way home from work. I was in there a few years ago but the price scared me away.

I have Moose Head Brand steel toe boots with Thinsulate and oil and acid resistant bottoms made by John Palmer Co. Ltd. in Canada. They're pretty rugged, but overkill sometimes. They have the 'Green Triangle' safety rating. I'm thinking of getting a rugged 'shoe' to wear for low priority trips through the shop. Any suggestions?
